Azkatraz: A Harry Potter Symposium

I just spent 5 days in San Francisco, CA for the Harry Potter convention Azkatraz, an experience I will not soon forget. While surrounding yourself with some of the biggest Harry Potter fans you can find for 5 days can (gasp) become a bit much, you are too tired to notice. While we have all agreed that the best part has to be the people, friends you've made from interactions over the internet, in my case friends from HPANA, Mugglenet, Leaky, and Hogwarts Radio, to name a few. One cannot say enough about the great programming experience that HPEF offers, and the tremendous job they did incorporating the theme, Prison (Azkatraz = AZKABAN/ALCATRZ). The few presentations I went to were terrific, with the likes of Steven Vander Ark, Travis Prinzi, Wizard Rockers, and more giving talks on various topics. It makes you realize just how much there is to talk about in regards to all aspects of Potter. Perhaps that only downer was the Prision Break Ball, not for lack of entertainment and fun, but because it was far to short, even than advertized, but HPEF knew how to turn this into a positive, having a few sets of Wizard Rock followed by a sing-along with the folks from A Very Potter Musical (See HERE). This evening, turned out to be one of the highlights. The last night, was the podcast panel, four hours of podcasting, ending with your very own Hogwarts radio (again See HERE) featuring talk with Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley), who was kind enough to join us for our panel as we podcasted late into the night (morning?), the podcast from that night is available for download right here. I could go on forever about every aspect of the convention, but I will spare you, all I can say is to keep your eyes and ears peeled for news regarding Infinitus 2010 in Orlando, FL, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter resort, a can't miss.
